Who controls the past controls the future

In 1968, Susanne and Klaus Thiel left Frankfurt am Main, West Germany, with their 1-year-old son Peter for Cleveland Ohio. There is little information about Klaus, other than what Peter himself has offered to his biographers—which is that Klaus was a “chemical engineer.” One detail we don’t know, for example, is why Klaus left Germany for America, but we do know what was happening in Frankfurt before he left.

The Frankfurt-Auschwitz Trials were the trials of twenty-two Nazi personnel who served at the Auschwitz Camp Complex between 1940 and 1945. The trials primarily took place in Frankfurt am Main between 20 December 1963 and 20 August 1965.
The second Frankfurt-Auschwitz trial took place between 14 December 1965 and 1 September 1966. Three of the former senior staff in the camp were tried. One was sentenced to life, and the other two were sentenced to prison terms.
The third Frankfurt-Auschwitz Trial took place between 30 August 1967 and ended 14 June 1968 and charged two former prisoners of the camp with murder and abuse of other prisoners. They both received sentences of life imprisonment.

After arriving in the United States with his young family in the late 1960s, apparently Klaus Thiel was dissatisfied with his new home and, after applying for US citizenship, left America within a few years with his wife and son for apartheid South Africa. Thiel worked for a chemical engineering contractor which was helping create a uranium mine in what was in then-South African-occupied Namibia. The mine, called Rössing, was part of a secret operation to provide a nuclear weapon to the racist apartheid regime.

This was no ordinary mine. It was a brutal, racist slave operation that, without the knowledge of the workers, exposed them to deadly radiation.

Here is a fascinating document from the Namibian independence movement in 1980 that implicates the UK, and by virtue of its complete ineffectiveness, the UN, in profiting from and enabling this criminal operation which was run by the mostly UK monarchy-owned mining behemoth Rio Tinto.

During the early 1970s, while his father was participating in setting up this depraved uranium operation, Peter was in a South African apartheid “non-denominational Christian school” called Pridwin which is still, despite all the laws against it, apparently a haven for racism.

However, in 1975 Peter Thiel changed schools again, to a German school in Swakopmund, Namibia, which was then being illegally occupied by the apartheid South African regime—despite having been told by the UN that they had no right to be there. Swakopmund was infamously one of the last places where it was common to greet each other with “Heil Hitler.”

The school Peter Thiel went to also celebrated Hitler’s birthday, 4/20—a date I have recently become concerned about for this year.

To put a final cherry on this fascist sundae, Rio Tinto, the mining company that ran Klaus Thiel’s uranium mine, has a very shameful history. This includes helping provide ore for Hitler’s Wehrmacht and cooperating with Franco’s regime to murder laborers who didn’t cooperate.

In 1930s Spain, under the rule of fascist General Francisco Franco, left-wing miners who had expressed discontent with Rio Tinto’s mines by striking were called to order by Franco’s troops. At the company’s 1937 annual general meeting, Sir Auckland Geddes reported “since the mining region was occupied by General Franco’s forces, there have been no further labour problems… Miners found guilty of troublemaking are court-martialed and shot.” Under Franco’s influence, Rio Tinto also provided ore for Nazi Germany’s re-armament programme.

Peter and his parents returned to America from occupied Namibia in 1977. About this time, Catholic priest Arne Panula also traveled to the US after living in Franco’s Spain with the founder of Opus Dei, Jose Maria Escriva, who died in 1975, the same year as Franco.

Panula took a job as the “Head of the Opus Dei House” at Stanford University, where, within a decade, he would make the acquaintance of one young Peter Andreas Thiel.

One can only imagine the effect it would have on a young gay man’s psychology to grow up in a series of Nazi schools in racist apartheid regimes and then come to America, but it would probably look something like this.

“I think there’s something about the Biden thing that was crazier than apartheid South Africa… There are a lot of strings that can be pulled, and if we pull enough of them, the fabric of the Ancién regime of liberalism will completely unravel.”

The Antichrist, as I have written, may be a mythical construct, but for all intents and purposes, has arrived.

Peter Thiel’s investments in surveillance tech, authoritarian ideologues (hi, JD Vance), and ideological grooming platforms like Palantir are not disparate data points; they’re connected by a through-line of anti-humanism disguised as “rationality.”

His “libertarianism” was always a cover for oligarchic dominion. This man doesn’t believe in democracy. He believes in an optimized hierarchy where he sits at the top like the Tech-gnostic Pope of a new Dark Age.

That weird, sneering statement comparing apartheid to Biden’s America? That’s not just trolling; that’s projection, darling. Because to someone raised in a fascist environment, democracy does feel destabilizing. That’s the point of democracy. It destabilizes hereditary power. It levels the playing field. That’s why they hate it.

It’s time we stop acting like these billionaires are misunderstood boy-geniuses and start calling them what they are: neo-feudalists with fascist-adjacent upbringings, operating with unchecked power in a system that worships wealth more than truth.

Peter Thiel is not an anomaly. He is the prototype of a new breed of techno-authoritarians who never left the psychological war zones of their upbringing. They monetized them.
